The painting
Assumption of the Virgin (Assunta)
Below, the apostles crowd together, most looking up and some reaching for the sky, while the Virgin rises on clouds in a red robe and blue mantle, making her own gesture of astonishment. Above her is God the Father, about to be handed her crown by an angel. There is no landscape, only a blue-grey sky over the apostles and golden light higher up. Titian signed it on the stone sarcophagus beneath Saint Peter, and painted it on 21 cedar planks laid horizontally, which still show from the front.Titian's Assunta was unveiled on the high altar of the Frari church in Venice in 1518, and it is still there, almost seven metres tall. It reads in three bands: the apostles below, reaching up in shock; Mary in red rising on a cloud packed with small angels; and God the Father waiting at the top in a sky of gold. It made Titian, still in his twenties, the leading painter in the city.Your copy starts on a blank canvas after you order and is painted in oil by hand. The hand behind it
Titian
Titian ran the most successful painting business in sixteenth century Europe and lived long enough to change style completely twice. The early work is clear, bright and sharply drawn. The late work is built from broken, dragged paint that barely resolves close up, and he is said to have finished pictures with his fingers. Charles V and Philip II of Spain both employed him, and the mythological paintings made for Philip, the poesie, took Ovid as a starting point and did what they liked with him. Diana and Actaeon is the high point. He painted in Venice for roughly seventy years, absorbed Giorgione early, then absorbed everything else. Rubens, Velazquez and Rembrandt all studied him closely. The very late Pietà, left unfinished at his death during the plague of 1576, is nearly monochrome and looks two centuries ahead of itself.

Questions
How is the finish priced?
The price you see is the painting at the size you chose, in the finish you chose, and it updates as you change either. Rolled arrives in a protective tube, ready for local framing. Stretched arrives on wooden bars, ready to hang. Framed arrives in its frame, ready to hang. Stretched and framed go up to 60 × 90 cm (24 × 36 in); larger paintings travel rolled.
How long does it take?
Painting begins after you order and takes 3 to 4 weeks, including drying and the photo you approve. Delivery then takes 4 to 10 working days to most countries. More on delivery times.
Will it look exactly like the original?
It is painted by a person, so no. Brushwork varies between copies, which is the difference between a painting and a poster.
What if I do not like it?
Ninety days from delivery, full refund.
