Returns and refunds
Ninety days to decide
Most shops give 30 days. We give you 90.
Every painting is made by hand after you order it, so we want you to see it on your own wall before you commit.
Before it even ships
We photograph the finished painting and send it to you before it leaves the studio. If it is not right, we work on it until it is. Most problems are solved here, before anything is packed.
Cancelling an order
You can cancel free of charge within 24 hours of ordering. After that the canvas has been started, so the order can no longer be cancelled. You still have 90 days to return the painting once it arrives.
To cancel, contact us with your order number.
Your 90 days
You have 90 days from delivery to request a return, for any reason. Paintings should come back in the condition they arrived, undamaged, and ideally in the original packaging.
Keep the packaging until you are sure. A stretched canvas is difficult to ship safely without it, and damage caused in transit back to us is not covered.
If it arrives damaged
Please open the parcel on the day it arrives. If anything is damaged, contact us and send:
- a photo of the outer box, showing any dents, tears or water marks
- a photo of the whole painting and close-ups of the damage
- a photo of the shipping label with the tracking number
Please tell us within 48 hours if you can. It helps us claim from the courier and does not affect your legal rights.
We send you a new painting or a full refund, your choice. You keep the damaged one, there is nothing to send back.
If a tracked parcel is more than 14 days late and cannot be found, we paint and send a new one at no cost, or refund you in full, your choice.
Limited lifetime warranty
Our limited lifetime warranty covers the original buyer for as long as they own the painting, against faults in the materials or the making. If one appears, we repair or replace the painting free of charge.
What it covers
- Paint cracking or flaking that was not caused by a knock or other damage
- Paint that never dries properly and stays tacky
- Canvas coming loose from its stretcher, or a seam giving way
- Stretcher bars that warp or split under normal hanging (stretched paintings)
- Frame corners that open up (framed paintings)
What it does not cover
- Accidents: drops, knocks, tears, water, spills, pets
- Fading or yellowing from direct sunlight
- Damage from damp, heat or a nearby radiator
- Cleaning with water, sprays or cleaning products
- Work done after delivery, such as restretching, reframing, varnishing or retouching by someone else
- Ordinary wear, dust, and the small changes that come with age
- Damage in transit, which is handled separately, see If it arrives damaged
How to claim
Contact us with your order number and a photo of the fault. We tell you whether it is a repair or a replacement and arrange everything. You do not pay to send anything back.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
How to start a return
- Contact us with your order number and the reason for the return.
- We reply with the return address and instructions. Please do not ship anything before you have these, as unannounced returns cannot be traced to your order.
- Send the painting back and give us the tracking number.
Sending a rolled painting back
Roll it painted side out, into the tube it came in.
Refunds
Once the painting reaches us and has been checked, we confirm by email. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method, normally within 10 working days, though your bank may take longer to show it.
Return shipping
Delivery to you is always free. Import duty or tax, where your country charges it, is paid to the courier on delivery and is not refundable by us. If a painting arrives damaged, faulty, or is not what you ordered, we cover the return shipping too.
If you simply change your mind, the cost of sending it back is yours.
Commissions
Paintings made from your own photograph, or from a painting you asked us to paint, are covered by the same 90 days. Because you approve a photograph of the finished painting before it ships, we ask you to raise anything you want changed at that stage rather than after delivery.
Exchanges
If you would rather have a different painting, treat it as a return and place a fresh order. Your new painting then starts straight away instead of waiting for the first one to come back.
