N.C. Wyeth

N.C. Wyeth was one of the great American illustrators. His paintings for adventure books, Treasure Island, Robin Hood, Robinson Crusoe, are full of drama, strong light and powerful figures.
He was born in Needham, Massachusetts, and studied with the illustrator Howard Pyle. He moved to Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, in 1908. He illustrated more than a hundred books and made thousands of paintings and illustrations. His son Andrew Wyeth became a famous painter. The Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford holds his work.
The Passing of Robin Hood is the painting we offer. Look at the drama of light and shadow.
