Adoration of the Magi in a Winter Landscape
Bruegel painted this in 1563: a Flemish village in a snowstorm, the flakes painted one by one. The kings have come to the stable on the left, but the villagers are busy with their own winter, fetching water, carrying wood, skating. It is one of the first paintings to show falling snow. It is in the Oskar Reinhart Collection in Winterthur.Hand-painted in oil to your size once you order, with a photo to approve before it ships.

The hand behind it
Pieter Brueghel the Elder
Pieter Bruegel the Elder painted the whole of human life seen from a little above: crowds of villagers dancing, feasting, working and playing, set in vast landscapes of fields, rivers and mountains. His peasants are solid and lively rather than comic, and every corner of his pictures holds a small story. He was probably born around 1525, perhaps near Breda, and became a master in the Antwerp painters’ guild in 1551. He then travelled through Italy, reaching as far south as Reggio Calabria. For years he designed prints in Antwerp, then moved to Brussels in 1563 after his marriage and died there in 1569. About forty paintings survive, including The Hunters in the Snow and Children’s Games in Vienna and Dulle Griet in Antwerp. His sons Pieter the Younger and Jan carried on the family name. Children’s Games shows dozens of different games at once: try to count them.

Questions
How is the finish priced?
The price you see is the painting at the size you chose, in the finish you chose, and it updates as you change either. Rolled arrives in a protective tube, ready for local framing. Stretched arrives on wooden bars, ready to hang. Framed arrives in its frame, ready to hang. Stretched and framed go up to 60 × 90 cm (24 × 36 in); larger paintings travel rolled.
How long does it take?
Painting begins after you order and takes 3 to 4 weeks, including drying and the photo you approve. Delivery then takes 4 to 10 working days to most countries. More on delivery times.
Will it look exactly like the original?
It is painted by a person, so no. Brushwork varies between copies, which is the difference between a painting and a poster.
What if I do not like it?
Ninety days from delivery, full refund.
