Kramskoi painted this in 1872. Christ sits alone on grey rocks in a stony desert at dawn, his hands locked together, his feet bare and cut. There are no angels, no devil, and nothing happening, only a man thinking hard about a choice. Pavel Tretyakov bought it, and it is in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.Your copy starts on a blank canvas after you order and is painted in oil by hand.
