A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte
Parisians spend a Sunday on an island in the Seine, nearly all of them in shade: a couple strolling on the right, a woman fishing on the left, two soldiers, a trumpeter, a woman knitting. Only the little girl in white at the centre stands out of the shadow, looking straight at us. Watch the lady on the right, who has a pet monkey on a leash. The zinc yellow in the sunlit grass was already turning brown in Seurat's lifetime.Sunday Afternoon On The Island Of La Grande Jatte is a hand-painted oil on canvas reproduction of Georges Pierre Seurat's work. Each piece is made to order, with full customization of size and framing to suit your space. Every reproduction is backed by our 90-day satisfaction guarantee, with free worldwide shipping.

The hand behind it
Georges Pierre Seurat
Seurat worked out a system and then died at thirty one before he could do much with it. Pointillism, or divisionism as he preferred, applies small dots of unmixed colour that the eye combines at a distance, based on contemporary colour theory he had read carefully. A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte took two years and is about ten feet wide. The figures stand frozen in profile, stiff as an Egyptian frieze, which was the point. He wanted the permanence of classical art applied to people in modern leisure clothes. He made dozens of preparatory oil sketches and conte crayon drawings, and the drawings, built from smudged darkness with no line at all, are as good as anything he painted. Signac carried the method forward. Pissarro tried it and abandoned it.

Questions
How is the finish priced?
The price you see is the painting at the size you chose, in the finish you chose, and it updates as you change either. Rolled arrives in a protective tube, ready for local framing. Stretched arrives on wooden bars, ready to hang. Framed arrives in its frame, ready to hang. Stretched and framed go up to 60 × 90 cm (24 × 36 in); larger paintings travel rolled.
How long does it take?
Painting begins after you order and takes 3 to 4 weeks, including drying and the photo you approve. Delivery then takes 4 to 10 working days to most countries. More on delivery times.
Will it look exactly like the original?
It is painted by a person, so no. Brushwork varies between copies, which is the difference between a painting and a poster.
What if I do not like it?
Ninety days from delivery, full refund.
Can I get A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte in a different size or shape?
