The painting
The Baptism of Christ
Piero painted this for his home town of Sansepolcro, probably in the 1440s or 1450s. Christ stands in a narrow stream as John pours water over him, under a white dove that looks exactly like the clouds. A walnut tree rises on the left, and three angels watch. The town appears in the hills behind. It is in the National Gallery in London.We paint each copy by hand in oil, only after it is ordered, and send you a photo to approve first.
