The Young Mother
Gerrit Dou, Rembrandt's first pupil, painted this in Leiden in 1658: a young mother sewing beside a cradle in a large, cluttered room, with a maid at the back, a birdcage, copper pots and a vegetable basket, all painted with miniature precision. It hangs in the Prince William V Gallery in The Hague.Ours is painted by hand in oil once you order, in the size you choose, and you approve a photo of it before it ships.
