Frank Myers Boggs

Frank Myers Boggs painted harbours, rivers and old towns: fishing boats drawn up on Normandy beaches, barges on the Thames, the quays of Paris and the busy water at Dordrecht. His brush is quick and his interest is in atmosphere, weather and water.
He was born in Springfield, Ohio, in 1855 and went to Paris to study at the École des Beaux-Arts under Jean-Léon Gérôme. He spent most of his life in France, became a French citizen in 1923 and settled in Montmartre, and died in 1926. His paintings are in the Metropolitan Museum and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
Dordrecht Harbor with Shipping and Cathedral and Beaching the Boats at Grandcamp show the two sides of his work, the busy port and the quiet shore.
