Geoffrey Stephen Allfree

Geoffrey Stephen Allfree painted the naval war of 1914 to 1918. His pictures show convoys, dockyards and warships in the grey light of the Channel.
He served as a lieutenant in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve and died on active service in September 1918. Many of his works, including The Quarter-Deck of a Battleship, are in the Imperial War Museum in London.
A Convoy in the Channel and A Monitor’s Turret show the sea war he recorded.
