John Clayton Adams

John Clayton Adams painted the English countryside, especially Surrey, with rich colour and warm light. Harvest fields, hay making, woods and lanes are his typical subjects.
He was born in Edmonton, Middlesex, and studied at the Bloomsbury School and under William Wilthieu Fenn. He first showed at the Royal Academy at nineteen and exhibited there many times. From 1873 he lived near Guildford. His works are in the Victoria and Albert Museum and Sheffield galleries.
Harvest Time and Landscape with Haymakers show his favourite themes. Look at the golden fields.
