The hand behind it
Paris Bordone
Paris Bordone painted the sensual side of Venetian art: half-length allegories of lovers, beautiful women in loosened silk, mythological couples and rich reds and golds in the manner of his teacher Titian. His figures are elegant and a little theatrical, with a touch of Mannerist complexity. Born in Treviso in 1500, he moved to Venice young and trained, unhappily according to Vasari, with Titian. His best-known large work is The Fisherman Presenting the Ring to the Doge (1534 to 1535) in the Gallerie dell’Accademia, Venice, a grand piece of civic storytelling set in a sweep of architecture. He was invited to France by Francis I in 1538 and also worked for the Fugger family in Augsburg, though his paintings for both are lost. He died in 1571. His works are in the Hermitage, the National Gallery, London, and many European museums. Allegory with Mars, Venus, Flora and Cupid is typical of his cabinet pictures of love and beauty.

Questions
How is the finish priced?
The price you see is the painting at the size you chose, in the finish you chose, and it updates as you change either. Rolled arrives in a protective tube, ready for local framing. Stretched arrives on wooden bars, ready to hang. Framed arrives in its frame, ready to hang. Stretched and framed go up to 60 × 90 cm (24 × 36 in); larger paintings travel rolled.
How long does it take?
Painting begins after you order and takes 3 to 4 weeks, including drying and the photo you approve. Delivery then takes 4 to 10 working days to most countries. More on delivery times.
Will it look exactly like the original?
It is painted by a person, so no. Brushwork varies between copies, which is the difference between a painting and a poster.
What if I do not like it?
Ninety days from delivery, full refund.
Can I get Allegory with Mars, Venus, Flora, and Cupid in a different size or shape?
