The hand behind it
Hyacinthe Rigaud
Hyacinthe Rigaud was the great portraitist of Louis XIV’s France. His grand portraits are full of velvet, ermine and swirling drapery, and his 1701 portrait of Louis XIV in coronation robes, in the Louvre, set the pattern for royal portraits across Europe. Born in Perpignan, he trained in Montpellier and Lyon and moved to Paris in 1681, winning the Prix de Rome in 1682. He painted four generations of the Bourbon dynasty, along with nobles, clergy and wealthy merchants. There is a museum dedicated to him in Perpignan. Gaspard de Gueidan Playing the Musette, in Aix-en-Provence, shows his skill with rich costume and a theatrical pose.

How is the finish priced?
The price you see is the painting at the size you chose, in the finish you chose, and it updates as you change either. Rolled arrives in a protective tube, ready for local framing. How long does it take?
Painting begins after you order and takes 3 to 4 weeks, including drying and the photo you approve. Delivery then takes 4 to 10 working days to most countries. More on delivery times.
Will it look exactly like the original?
It is painted by a person, so no. Brushwork varies between copies, which is the difference between a painting and a poster.
