Guillaume Seignac

Guillaume Seignac

Guillaume Seignac painted nymphs, goddesses and young women in flowing, transparent drapery. His style is polished, classical and dreamy, in the manner of the French academic school.

Born in Rennes, he studied at the Académie Julian with Gabriel Ferrier, William Bouguereau and Tony Robert-Fleury. He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from 1897, winning an honourable mention in 1900 and a medal in 1903. His subjects include mythological scenes, allegories and figures in soft landscapes.

Cupid and Psyche and Beauty at the Well show his flowing drapery and smooth, glowing skin tones.
