About Paintings for Children's Rooms
Many classic paintings appeal to children. Henri Rousseau's "Tiger in a Tropical Storm" (1891), a tiger crouching in a wind-blown jungle, is in the National Gallery in London. Franz Marc painted horses, foxes and cows in bright blue, red and yellow. Albrecht Dürer's "Young Hare" (1502), originally a watercolour, is known for its detail. Katsushika Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" is simple and bold.
Choose a painting that can grow with the child. Hang it at their eye level and away from a bunk ladder or climbing frame. Bright, simple pictures read well from a bed or across a room, and a medium size is usually right. Animals, boats and bold colour are popular choices that stay good as children grow.
