About Paintings for the Office
Some paintings were made with study in mind. Johannes Vermeer painted a scholar with a celestial globe in "The Astronomer" (1668), now in the Louvre, and a map-maker at his window in "The Geographer". Hans Holbein the Younger surrounded two envoys with globes, books and instruments in "The Ambassadors" (1533).
Dutch ships, Hudson River School views and calm landscapes by Corot or Ruisdael also suit an office, since they are steady without being dull. Behind a desk, choose a medium size that frames you on a video call. In a meeting room, go larger. Portraits and scenes with people suit a meeting room too.
