About Green Landscape Paintings
Green is one of the hardest colours to paint well, and landscape painters worked at it for centuries. John Constable painted a boy drinking from a stream on a lane through summer woods in "The Cornfield" (1826). Vincent van Gogh painted "Green Wheat Fields, Auvers" in 1890, in the last weeks of his life.
Henri Rousseau filled "The Dream" (1910) with many different greens of jungle leaves. Meindert Hobbema painted green woods and water mills. Green landscapes bring the outside in, so they suit living rooms, offices and rooms with plants. They sit well against sage, cream and wood. A natural wood frame completes the look.
